Devin Aromashodu re-signed plus other Vikigns updates

So I've been gone for a weekend, but not too much has happened this weekend. My last blog discussed the re-signing Erin Henderson to a 1 year, $2 million dollar contract. Later on that day, it was determined that WR Devin Aromashodu re-signed a one year contract also. This likely happened when Ted Ginn, Jr. re-signed with the 49ers, but might not be a bad idea. Ponder and Aromashodu appeared to developing a good connection and it seemed like Aromashodu could be a potential deep threat. Aromashodu will be turning 28 6 days after I turn 29 so he will be 28 during the 2012 season. Last season was his best year. He caught career high 26 passes, career high 468 yards and only 1 touchdown. Maybe that's the start of a good career for him, this season could tell us. However, I still feel like drafting Alshon Jeffrey or another potential #1 receiver would be the best 2nd round pick in the 2012 draft that the Vikings could make to give us a good #1 receiver.

CB Chris Carr visited the Vikings on Friday, but left without a contract. I'm not fully sure why, as he spent much of last season injured and that seems to attract the Vikings to players. But aside from that, Carr has had a good career and could add some needed depth to the CBs of the Vikings. Like everyone else, I'll just have to wait and see what Carr decides to do.

In relation to my mock draft, it sounds like compensatory picks will be announced Monday or Tuesday of this week. Once that happens, my mock will be updated to reflect the correct compensatory picks.

And as far as the draft go, there are a number of prospects scheduled to visit the Vikings, including but not limited to, Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford, Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama and Trumaine Johnson, DB, Montana as well as a few others. This creates more speculation as to whether or not the Vikings will draft Matt Kalil with the 3rd overall pick, which is most recommended they should.
