Vikings still searching the free agency.

As I put in my previous blog, below is an updated list of the free agents I felt the Vikings should be targeting. As of now, only four of the fifteen free agents I put in have signed, but that still means the pool is getting smaller, with many of the other getting some strong looks from other teams. But Coach Frazier was quoted as saying the Vikings are still in the market for a deep threat WR. Well, who does that leave in the free agency? Not much. The top two I have listed are probably the best options, but Jerome Simpson's alleged drug connections poses a big risk which is why he likely hasn't garnished any looks at this point and Edwards battled injuries all last season and who's to say he'll perform in the WR at his highest potential. Edwards could be worth signing to a one year prove it deal. Early Doucet just isn't a deep threat, but still has some good qualities. I think this need will be best addressed in the draft with the Vikings 2nd or 3rd pick. Quality receivers and potential deep threats will still be available at those picks.

The CB market still has some talent in it, but the Vikings were apparently talking to Alan Ball, former DB from the Cowboys (face palm!) despite that talent and O.J. Atogwe for the S position. And ILB is still a position in need as E.J. will hopefully be moving on to get younger in that position. Many of the ILBs on the list below have garnered a lot of attention from other teams. Particularly Lofton and Hawthorne.

And of course, the Vikings still need to a get E.J.'s brother Erin a contract!! Erin has expressed his frustration with the Viking's lack of apparent interest, despite him saying he's not asking for a lot of money and that fact that it appears that he WANTS to be part of the youth movement by the Vikings. HE WANTS TO! Key phrase....

As of now the only visit the Vikings have set is Geoff Schwartz on Monday and O.J. Atogwe this week as well. Hopefully that changes and the Vikings start looking closely at the talent available and the talent we already have and quit ignoring the needs that the Vikings have.
